One of the lions of the wine industry, Jim Clendenen, the “Mind Behind” Au Bon Climat, is recognized worldwide for his classically styled wines of vision, balance, and character. The winery has cultivated an international reputation for its Burgundian varietals Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Pinot Blanc and Pinot Gris, sourcing grapes from several of the most highly regarded vineyards in the Central Coast including Clendenen’s own Le Bon Climat Vineyard and estate plantings at the legendary Bien Nacido Vineyard – both in Santa Maria Valley.
Established in 1982, Au Bon Climat (which means "a well-exposed vineyard) has been listed on Robert Parker's Best Wineries of the World, and Jim Clendenen has been named Winemaker of the Year by the Los Angeles Times and Food and Wine Magazine. His recently opened tasting room in downtown Santa Barbara not only features current releases but also an extensive collection of library wines cellared to perfection.
