We are a small family owned and operated Estate Vineyard and Winery located in the Eastern Foothills of the Santa Ynez Valley of Santa Barbara County. We planted our Vineyards in 2001 and produced our first wines in 2005. Our focus is exclusively Bordeaux styled wines.
Baehner Fournier Vineyards is planted to ENTAV French clones of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot on hillsides. The thin and rocky soil, high winds, hot days and cool nights all combine to force these vines to produce a small but flavorful crop.
Sustainable farming techniques are practiced and insecticides are avoided. The grapes hang on the vines until that complex balance of sweetness, acidity and deeply pigmented skin color is reached. Then in the cool morning darkness the netting veil is removed and each grape cluster is snipped from the vine and carefully placed into bins avoiding any damage to the fruit. Harvest means selecting the best and cleanest fruit for crushing in order to make an extraordinary wine.
Our Sauvignon Blanc is sourced from the Vogelzang Vineyard in Happy Canyon located a few miles south of our vineyards.. Our Winemaker Steve Clifton oversees the farming and crafts our wines at his Palmina Winery. We share his philosophy that fine wine requires premium fruit with minimal interventions during the winemaking process.
Our annual production is 400 cases or 4800 750 ml bottles.
