Owned and operated by Joan and John Kerr, this small production winery specializes in handcrafted, reserve style Chardonnay and Syrah from select blocks of grapes grown in the Bien Nacido vineyard in Santa Maria Valley. Co-owner and winemaker, John says "In any given year the vineyard can throw you the biggest curve for fruit flavors development, which I call maturity. Accounting for all of the variables, I've found that to make the best, richest fruit flavor complexities along with ageability, the wine needs to mature in the barrel for about two years. So, when most wineries are bottling the current vintage just prior to the next harvest, I don't feel my wines have had the chance to develop fully in this short of a time frame. Thus my wines take more time from the vine to the bottle and ultimately to the consumer. I think once you taste my wines, you'll agree the wait is worth it!"
