Rarus Cellars

Turner Vineyard has long had an award-winning reputation. Now, for the first time, the estate’s finest grapes and wines, which had been held in reserve, are being released and produced in limited quantity under the Rarus label.

Derived from the Latin word for “Rare,” the Rarus name honors the unique terroir of our land. The twenty-one acre Turner Vineyard is situated in the Northern section of Sta. Rita Hills where the cool ocean fog meets the sunny hillsides. The cool climate, south-facing slopes and sandy soils make it ideal for producing renowned Pinot Noir. The vines are organically farmed and tended by hand, producing very low but exceptional yields.

Ryan Carr manages Turner Vineyard and is also the winemaker for Rarus. The sense of terroir and the grapes really shine through in his traditional winemaking style. Rarus Wines are available through the tasting rooms at Carr Winery’s Santa Barbara and Santa Ynez locations.
