Costa de Oro Winery produces Chardonnay and Pinot Noir from the Santa Maria Valley in the Santa Barbara County of California. Their “Gold Coast Vineyard” is the primary source for fruit. Also produced are small lots of Pinot Grigio, Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon from selected local vineyards. Winemaker, Gary Burk, worked in production at the Au Bon Climat & Qupé facility from 1994 – 2002 when he left to devote his time to Costa de Oro. Gary also produces private label wines for James Beard Award Winner, Roy Yamaguchi (Roy’s Pinot Noir), The Halekulani Hotel on Waikiki Beach (Lace Chardonnay) and Master Sommelier, Chuck Furuya (CF Pinot Noir).
Costa de Oro Winery has received critical acclaim as well, receiving “90” point scores or higher from Robert Parker, James Laube/Wine Spectator, Wine Enthusiast and Wine and Spirits Magazine. He has also had wines named in the Top 100 Wines of the Year by Wine and Spirits Magazine, the San Francisco Chronicle, and Wine and Country Living.
